Budget Buys

Budget Buys describe the bits of gear that I've purchased and anything I've got round to blogging about will appear on this page. As I'm trying to do triathlons on the cheap, all my gear is relevant for those on a budget and often described as "entry level". The term entry level suggests that it's only for those just starting out, but I want to prove that having the cheapest gear doesn't make you the slowest triathlete.

So how do I review my budget buys?

I start off by writing about the product and the process that led to my decision to the rarest of things, actualy parting with my own money. I like to talk about my thoughts on the products but in the end the important bit is the rating. I give items two ratings, a subjective scoring out of 5 and (when applicable) an objective rating calculated by dividing the price by the estimated time saved (ETS). I work out the ETS by calculating (or estimating) the difference in time the gear saved me during a race compared to previous races. This proccess gives me two scores, a rating (?/5) and a value (£?/s).
